Hitman Executes Motorcycle Merchant in Esmeraldas

Eight murders have been registered in the first six days of 2023 in Esmeraldas. The latest victim is a traffic officer who was shot four times. The incident occurred at 07:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2023, as the officer was on his way to work. He was intercepted by a hitman in the sector known as Stop 12, on the way to the El Panecillo neighborhood. This information was provided by Santiago Viteri, Chief of the Esmeralda Police. The victim was identified as Maykel García, approximately 25 years old. At least four men fled the scene in a car after committing the crime. The death of traffic officer Maykel García was immediate after he received four shots. His body was left lying in the middle of the street. People who were present at the scene tried to help him, but it was too late as he had already died.
